Intro: pages 129-142

The final pages of Scrapbook 3 continue the story of the 1872 presidential campaign -- the contest between Ulysses S. Grant, a Republican, and Horace Greeley, a Democrat/Liberal Republican.

Martin strongly disliked Greeley, a former Radical Republican, because Martin believed Greeley was giving in to demands and interests of the former Confederates.
