Alonzo Raynes remembrance of trip around Cape Horn

This newspaper clipping from an unidentified California newspaper is a "late tribute" to Alonzo Raynes, John Martin's stepbrother who went to California in 1849 on the first vessel to leave Maine for during the gold rush.

Raynes was quite successful and was a founder and important citizen of the town of Yreka.

The article was printed sometime after Raynes' death in 1914 when the unidentified author found a transcript he thought was lost of Raynes' remembrances of the trip around Cape Horn.
